STORAGE IS KEY

Any organiser will tell you that storage is the number 1 PROBLEM, but also SOLUTION for each home or office.

If you are reading this blog, then chances are that you know you are not using your space effectively.

We need to change the way you use your home for storage by adding/taking away/changing the way you use the space you have in your home and creating a much-improved system.

We tend to use our homes for storage instead of living space. This has to change. You need to change the way you think about your living space. Because it is exactly that. LIVING SPACE. Not storage space.

If you cannot breathe in your own home, you need professional help to get you back to that happy space. Now, this may not just be about the volume of ‘stuff’ you have, it could be down to health, relationships or illness that your home has become a negative place, but my job is to help you eradicate as much of the physical clutter so your mind can focus on the emotional and slowly become clearer.

A cluttered, chaotic home has a huge impact on the way you function day to day. Mental illness and disability can also lead to a cluttered house. It is not always just because we are too busy. There are many reasons.

I promise the freedom you will feel from a clear and calm home is life changing. Until you experience the change, you just can’t imagine the difference it can make.

Storage is expensive when you are doing it properly, so expect to outlay a little bit. But it will be so worth it when inside each cupboard is amazing.

People think ‘but who cares what’s inside the cupboards?’ I just can’t explain the feeling of knowing exactly what is where and being able to see for yourself, not rummage through clothes/tins/rubbish to get to something you need. It is only when you have your cupboards done that you will get what I mean. It saves you time (and time is money), stress and one less headache.

My top buys for storage

  1. Baskets, baskets and more baskets

Now these can be anything from £5 each to £50 each. You choose what size and style suit YOUR home. Each home is different, as is each budget and what space you have.

I like the Wilko ones as they are inexpensive and do the job, and being white in colour go inside most cupboards easily. Remember most of these baskets are used INSIDE cupboards to neaten them up and contain the mess (in an orderly fashion).

Order 4 sets at least. They will all get used throughout your home, but these are more geared towards the bedrooms. For kitchens, we use other ones.

2. Drawer organisers

These good old faithfuls from IKEA make such a difference. Use them for anything from your underwear to stationery. They get used, so they’re always a good buy. Choose the colour that suits you.

I like these, but I would use plastic for make-up, but we will talk about that in another section. This is just covering the basics.

3. Kitchen cupboard containers

These come in all shapes and sizes. I would buy 10 to 20 depending on the size of your kitchen cupboards and their widths. I like everything to be bought in at least twos as it makes for symmetry, which we LOVE. These can be used for so many areas of your home: bathroom cabinets, make-up, office… the list goes on. Not just for your fridge.

3 is fine so is 4, it just depends how wide your shelves are as to what you can line up. Just buy as many as you can.
